Certification Exams

PagerDuty University at Summit attendees will receive a link and a code that gives them 30 days’ access to take both certification exams for free. Upon successfully completing an exam, users will receive a certificate that they can add to their LinkedIn profile! After Summit, the courses and certifications will have an associated fee. 


Format for both exams

Questions - 50 

Time - 60 minutes

Passing grade - 80% 

Format - Multiple choice, Multiple answer, Fill in the Blank, True/False

Language - English

Incident Responder Certification - Core Competencies



Becoming a certified Incident Responder is a recommended first step toward gaining the knowledge and best practices to better the Incident Response process in your organization.


Recommended Knowledge and Experience

  • We recommend candidates have taken the Incident Command System 101, Incident Command System 201 and the Postmortems workshop hosted by PagerDuty University during Summit prior to the examination

  • Candidates should have a basic understanding of the Incident Command System and best practices related to building out and optimizing the Incident Response Process in an organization

Foundational Practitioner Certification - Core Competencies




Put your knowledge to the test, and validate your skills as a PagerDuty expert. This certification exam will test your understanding of the core features of the PagerDuty platform, including basic incident response features as well as account configuration settings. 


Recommended Knowledge and Experience

At least ~1 year of experience using PagerDuty is recommended to take this certification. Those who need a refresher to prepare for the exam will have access to our on-demand product training modules for 30 days after Summit.
